Golden Apple Awards for teachers

Eight of the Cayman Islands’ outstanding teachers received Golden Apple Awards this past weekend. The educators were awarded for ‘dedication, professionalism and leadership’ at the third annual Chamber of Commerce Golden Apple Awards on Saturday, 20 June at the Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman. Minister of Education Hon Rolston Anglin presented the awards along with Chamber of Commerce President Stuart Bostock. Read More.

Facing the Issues
Recently Bro. Kevron Reid from the Savannah Adventist Church represnted the Cayman Islands Conference in a forum in Trinidad. Nearly 20 church leaders traveled to Trinidad to take part in the special dialogue program called Facing the Issues. Top leaders heard and spoke to concerned church members from several church regions on issues regarding church initiatives, ministries, and church organization. Read his account of the event.

 

2009 Golden Apple Awards
The Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce invites you to attend the Third annual Chamber of Commerce Golden Apple Awards for Excellence in Teaching. The Awards Ceremony will be televised live from the Ritz Carlton, Grand Cayman at 9 p.m. on Saturday, 20th June 2009. It is a fantastic way to give teachers the recognition they deserve. Mrs. Catherine Eugene and Mrs. Charmaine Condappa was nominated by the Chamber of Commerce this year for the Golden Apple Award for excellence in teaching. They represent the primary school and high school respectively from Cayman Academy in the private school categories. Both nominees are members of the George Town Seventh-day Church.

Triathlon 2009
The Triathlon 2009 is next sunday, June 28th. Do not miss this great oportunity to participate in the very first event of this nature, organized by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Begins at 6:30am on Governor's beach. Athletes will have a $20 registration fee, and beginners $10 dollars. Form a team or participate as individual. There will be a very important meeting this monday, June 22st at 5:30pm at the GT church, for all persons going to Wisconsin Camporee. Please make sure and be there. Also the deadline to pay for the airline tickets is on July 02 at the Cayman travel agency. Forms are available online.

An Unsung Hero

It’s Sir Patrick, Now, as Queen Honors Jamaica’s Adventist Governor-General

Cayman Academy A Mathematics, a Physics teacher (Preferably combination) and a Spanish Teacher are needed at Cayman Academy for the 2009 – 2010 school year. Applicants must have a teaching certificate and at least five years experience in teaching. Filadelfia's Ordination Service
Pastor Dracket and Elder Amador The Filadelfia Seventh-day Adventist Church, one of two Spanish congregations in the Cayman Islands Conference, with a membership of 131 members had a grand spiritual celebration on Sabbath, June 30th, 2009. Brother Ezekiel Amador was ordained to the office of elder in this local congregation. Brother Amador has been actively involved in the local church programs, thus, the church Board and congregation saw it fit to recommend him for ordination. He is happily married and he and his wife Jessie have a daughter five years old. The Congregation was elated to witness this dedicated young man being ordained as an elder. Read More.

Filadelfia Adventist Children's choir The month of May has been designated as Child’s month not only by our Conference but also by the entire Cayman Islands. This has become an annual event in the Cayman Islands which includes all our churches. The children look forward to this time as they showcase their talents whether by speech, singing or preaching. Communication Workshop
Elder Nigel Coke, Communication Director of the West Indies Union The Vision of the West Indies Union's Communication Department is to present a favourable image of the Church, its mission, its life, and activities, as well as to assist the Church in being an effective witness of the loving and saving grace of Jesus Christ. The Department's objective is to reach society, both within the Church and externally, with an open, responsible, and hope-filled communication programmes through the effective use of contemporary technologies and methods of communication. The Communication Department of the West Indies Union conducted a 2-day workshop in video production at Northern Caribbean University May 21-22 2009. Read More

ASI Cayman
ASI Cayman Adventist Business owners and the Conference President, Pastor Eric Clarke, held a very successfull meeting on Tuesday May 12th at Cayman Academy. One of the items discussed was the staging of a business expo or trade fair to be held on Sunday June 21, 2009 at Cayman Academy, during which all adventist businessses will be able to promote their products or services and distribute advertising material, etc. There will also be a special magazine and a directory produced for the event. All business owners are asked to contact Theresa Chin at Cayman123Travel to sign up for this event. A follow-up meeting will be held on Tuesday May 19th, 2009 at Cayman Academy at 6pm. All business owners are asked to attend.

The Time is Now
The Conference Youth Department has concluded their youth revival that began on May 10th. We thank the team that came from Michigan for their effort and dedication in working for the Lord. Last weekend we had a beautiful concert that featured Scott Michael Bennett, including International singer Trent Delong, our own Youth Choir and Truth First. Those who attended were greatly blessed. Many have felt the touch of the Hoy Spirit and this Sabbath we will be having a beautiful baptism. We look forward to more great spiritual activities for our young people, please pray for the youth of our islands and of the world. Read More

The TRIATHLON 2009 is finally here, Tomorrow at 6:30am at Governors Beach, You must come out and bring your family for fun, exercise, or to compete for a Trophy. Registration for Athletes CI$20 and CI$10 for beginners.
This also includes a 6 miles walk from the governors beach arround the bypass back to the governors beach, for a registration fee of CI$5. Come, and participate with your Pastor in this AMAZING ADVENTURE! EARLY REGISTRATION WILL TAKE PLACE TONIGHT(Sat June 27) AT THE CONFERENCE OFFICE FROM 7-8PM!! The Cayman Islands Conference of Seventh-day Adventist announces that the Annual 10K Run/Walk will be held this November 8, 2009. We apologize that we could not accommodate it in the month of June, as is traditional.
